I am just getting up to speed on Master Master replication. Tried searching for an answer but couldn't really find the explanation that would answer my question.
Our current App runs on a 2 node configuration with MySQL replication in a Master Slave configuration with heartbeat.
Is their any point to moving to a Master Master configuration? From what I read, people recommend running a Master Master configuration in a Active node Passive node configuration. How is that different from a Master Slave config?
I am trying to understand what the benefits would be in a Master Master configuration. We currently have a VIP that runs on the Master and switches to the Slave in the event of a Master failure. I must be missing something because the Active node Passive node recommendation seems like the same thing.
Is there a difference and benefits to Master Master for a 2 node config?
Thanks,
